A Visit to New Beginnings
Last week, the Board of Directors of the Public Welfare Foundation toured New Beginnings, the District of Columbia’s secure residential treatment facility for young males. The board was accompanied on the visit by Daniel Okonkwo, executive director, and Eddie Ferrer, legal and policy director of grantee DC Lawyers for Youth, which works to improve DC’s juvenile justice system.
During the visit, board members gained a better understanding of the educational and rehabilitative services that youth receive in the facility and the preparation and planning that is essential for their return to their communities.
