Latinos in the Criminal Justice System

To bring light to the lack of ethnic Latino data collected by the criminal justice system and to help policymakers and advocates understand Latinos’ relationship to criminal justice, the Urban Institute has launched a new comprehensive, interactive website that seeks to address the lack of data available on Latinos in the criminal justice system and, ultimately, aims to fill in the gaps.

The website, which is called, “The Alarming Lack of Data on Latinos in the Criminal Justice System,” will help underscore the importance of filling in the Latino data gap as a key prerequisite to many criminal justice reforms.

Support for the project was provided by the Public Welfare Foundation and grantees LatinoJustice PRLDEF and Drug Policy Alliance also served as advisors.
