Can Crime Victims and Reformers Get Along?

Advocates for crime survivors and advocates for criminal justice reforms have long been at odds when they should be working together to create safe and healthy communities. That’s a basic premise of a recently released report by the Partnership for Safety and Justice, based in Portland, Oregon and a grantee of the Public Welfare Foundation.

The report, Moving Beyond Sides: The Power and Potential of a New Public Safety Policy Paradigm, aims to promote greater discussion and broader collaboration between these groups – who are frequently trapped in the same beleaguered communities – and urges them to work simultaneously to reduce mass incarceration and to strengthen supports and services for people harmed by crime.
