The Historic True Reformer Building: Designed to Promote Social Change


Constructed for the True Reformers, the True Reformer Building was the first building in the United States to be designed, financed, built, and owned by the African American community after Reconstruction.

Directions

The Foundation is located at 1200 U Street, NW, in the True Reformer Building, the five-story building on the southwest corner of 12th and U Streets.

 

Traveling by Metro

The nearest Metro station is the U Street Cardozo/African-American Civil War Memorial stop on the green or yellow lines. When you get to the station, take the 13th Street exit.

Traveling by Car

Metered street parking is available for a fee. The True Reformer Building is located directly across the street from the historic Ben’s Chili Bowl.

Traveling by Bus

We are located next to stops for the 90, 92, and X3 bus lines.
