Shirley Sagawa is CEO and President, Service Year Alliance. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University. She is the author of three books, including “The American Way to Change: How National Service and Volunteers are Transforming America.” Based on her previous experience as managing director, executive director and executive vice president of the Corporation for National and Community Service from 1993 to 1997, she led the transition team for that agency after the election of President Barack Obama in 2008. She also served previously as deputy assistant to former President Bill Clinton and deputy chief of staff to former First Lady Hillary Clinton. She currently is a board member and executive committee member of the National Women’s Law Center.
