Donna Byrd

Donna Byrd is the founder of BlueButterfly, a digital startup that assists families with the funeral planning process. She was the founding publisher of The Root, a leading online Black news source, and helped launch five companies including ezgov.com, BlackAmericaWeb.com and Kickoff Marketing. Donna’s career began in corporate America where she worked at Coca-Cola Company as brand manager, and Procter and Gamble where she developed and managed marketing strategies and advertising for new products, among other initiatives. She is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute and serves on the boards of Black Girls Rock, Village Capital, and The Bail Project, a nonprofit with a revolving fund to pay bail for people accused of misdemeanors.
